Project f l o w is a 2D RTS/MOBA hybrid that draws as much inspiration from Starcraft as it does Tony Hawk. The player controls an elite musical trauma team, who must move as a coordinated unit if they hope to make it out in one piece.

The project serves primarily as an audio and technical sandbox, but if someone can derive enjoyment from having played it, then that is a great an accomplishment to me as any.

A Look to Match the Groove

One of the more exciting parts of this project has been playing with how much the music affects the environment, rather than the opposite. To that end, you can see here a few key musical callbacks in play:

  • Current beat to drive 'head nod' animation

  • RMS value of the master DSP to drive intensity of color

  • Dominant frequency from FFT DSP

Instruments are also split between two busses to emphasize different elements of the mix.
